Exhibition: 6 Faces of Innovation

6 Faces of Innovation

Expectrum is hosting an art exhibition called “6 Faces of Innovation” from 6 November – 31 December 2017. The exhibition is part of a larger Vinnova-financed project called Innoday that explores how innovation can become part of everyday work at expectrum. Six artists and researchers from different countries were invited to explore the topic of innovation and problematize an aspect of innovation they personally find interesting in the process of making this exhibition. Participating artists come from the fields of visual and performing arts, and have all spent some time in residency at expectrum, observing the life and work culture of a space where innovation is in the center of attention. Each of the artists created a site-specific artwork for the present exhibition and the six artworks presented are interactive installations using a variety of media, from video, sound, drawings, print, and other mixed materials.

The artists participating in the exhibition are: Dejan Srhoj, Jennie Schaeffer, Nina Bozic Yams, Erik Berg, Johanna Byström Sims, and Mala Kline. Some of the questions that the artworks invite you to explore are: What will happen with relationships in a world dominated by technological innovation where humans co-exist with robots and become emotionally attached to them? What kind of imaginary dream spaces trigger innovation? Is there space for vulnerability and being human in the strive for constant innovation, performance and growth? How can we critically reflect upon the established norms within the language and aesthetics of innovation? Can perception of a particular physical space shift to something else and create room for free movement of thought that is the basis for innovation? How can we create conditions for innovation by connecting with the body, our inner realm, dreaming, and intuitive knowing?
